Top Technician and Top Garage Winners Announced

Top Technician saw another extremely tight final this year. Shaun Miller, from Millers Garage in Newbury, claimed the title by showing a first-class diagnostic process and top-notch fault finding abilities on a range of vehicles. Shaun’s win follows his extremely good showing in 2017, when he was runner-up.
On the day of the finals, all 5 finalists were presented with Ring goody bags before they got to grips with their final day of practical challenges judged by industry experts. The final was followed by the Top Technician/Top Garage Gala Dinner on Saturday 23 June, where the winners for both Top Technician and sister competition Top Garage were named.

Commenting on his victory in the competition, Shaun said: “I am so delighted to be Top Technician 2018. Half a lifetime has gone into this achievement, since I first started in the industry. I wanted to win Top Technician when I first heard about it seven years ago, and now I have. It’s amazing to have this trophy.”

The award for Top Garage 2018 was presented to co-owners and founders of Cedar Garage, Kevin Pearce and Matthew Copp.

Businesses were gauged on customer service, business planning, tools and garage equipment, parts and training.

Cedar Garage is based in Tarring Road in Worthing, and opened a second site in the town on Littlehampton Road earlier this year.

Commenting on their achievement, Kevin said: “We are ecstatic to have won Top Garage. The whole team has worked their socks off, and it is great that their commitment has been recognised in this way.”

Matthew added: “We are so happy to have won. Everyone in the team has the same attitude as us- they want to be the best, and this is a fantastic way to show the work that goes into the business.”

As sponsors of the event, all the winners received prizes of Ring workshop equipment. The winner of Top Technician receiving £600 prize pack, including the award-winning Ring RUBL1000 Under Bonnet Lamp. The winner of Top Garage received £1500 worth of workshop equipment for the whole garage.
