RING SUPPORTS CANCER SURVIVOR TAKING NEXT CHALLENGE OFF ROAD

Ring, the vehicle lighting and automotive accessories supplier to the aftermarket, has shown its support for Adam Alderson (37), a cancer survivor and the youngest multi-organ transplant recipient in the country, as he embarks on his next challenge, the Mongol Rally.

Believed to be the ‘greatest motoring adventure on the planet’ Adam, his partner Laura and two friends will travel unassisted in a 15-year old Suzuki Jimny across 15,000 miles, covering 24 different countries and some of the most difficult terrain in the world.

As well as having the adventure of a lifetime, the team - which will be affectionately known as the Yorkshire Yaks - hope to raise donations for the Steve Prescott Foundation and Macmillan Cancer Support, two organisations that supported Adam during his two-year battle.

Becoming headline sponsor for the team, Ring has provided a full range of equipment and accessories including headlight bulbs, additional vehicle lights, tow ropes, torches, in-vehicle power supply units to keep mobile gadgets fully charged and even a portable shower!

As well as the products, Ring has also contributed £500 to the fundraising target. The brand will feature on the two cars that will be used for the trip and also on all clothing that the team wear.

Adam said: “As someone who has no patience the Mongol rally will be a test of mental and physical strength, endurance and team work. Some of my friends have said that we are bonkers for even considering it but I look at things differently – I’ve been given a second chance and I’m going to make every moment count.

“We can’t thank Ring enough for all of their support. It’s not just about everything that they have given us – which is off the scale - but also that they believe that we can do it. That’s what makes this challenge so amazing, it gives you a real boost and we haven’t even set off yet!”

Marketing Manager for Ring, Henry Bisson said: “When we met with Adam and heard his story what was immediately apparent was his absolute determination never to give up. We were blown away by all that he has been through. He is a remarkable character and we couldn’t let the opportunity to support him pass us by.

“The Mongol Rally is notorious in the automotive sector and will certainly give the Yorkshire Yaks the challenge they are looking for. We wish them all the very best and hope that other businesses will come forward and show them their support too.”

The Mongol rally is expected to take up to six weeks and officially begins on Sunday 16 July 2017. For further details and to follow the team on their next adventure simply like www.facebook.com/YorkshireYaks or follow @YorkshireYaks.
